AFF Course Explained

The AFF teaching method has been designed to be didactical and methodical at the up-most. After seven levels of increasing difficulty, which can be achieved within only seven jumps, the candidate receives the graduation and is permitted to jump alone. And even if some levels must be repeated for safety reasons, it is fairly common to see candidates obtain their graduation after 3 or 4 days of jumping.

The AFF Introductory Jump is not much more expensive than the Tandem Jump but requirements to be allowed to jump are quite more demanding

The instruction starts with the theory and the ground training mentioned above. Those course take place once a month.

For instruction, we use the most modern equipment, made of one square main parachute and a reserve parachute of the same type.

All the gears are equipped with an Automatic Ativation Device. This device, controlled by a microprocessor, continuously measures the rate of descending speed and the altitude and activates, whenever needed, the reserve parachute.

To help in the control of the open parachute, during the early jumps, an Instructor gives by radio the necessary indications to the Student in order to guarantee a landing in good conditions in the appropriate landing area.

The practical part of the AFF Instruction is divided in 7 levels
with the following content:

  • Level 1: Familiarization with free fall, altitude awareness, and opening of the parachute.
  • Level 2: Body position awareness in free fall and 90° flat turns.
  • Level 3: First release by the Instructors. Student falls alone for the first time.
  • Level 4: First jump with only one Instructor. Control of heading in free fall
  • Level 5: Turns + Modification of falling rate.
  • Level 6: Back loops – Horizontal moves (Track).
  • Level 7: Graduation jump. The Candidate performs in one jump all the learned techniques without any contact with the Instructor : Free exit, left and right turns, back loop and track.

Conditons :

  • The Candidate must be 16 years old. For minors, a written authorization of parents or legal tutors is mandatory
  • The Candidate must present a recent medical fitness certificate.
  • Before starting the practical part of the training, the candidate must follow one half day of theory (usually given on friday evening).
